Facebook Sign Up: How to Sign Up for a Facebook Account

Facebook is a social networking website and has more than 600 million active users today. According to the three-month Alexa traffic rankings, Facebook is the second most popular site in the world. Social networking is fun and makes more closer to friends. I believe most of your friends have registered on Facebook site, if you didn't have a Facebook account yet, don't be the last one of your friends.

To begin with, open Facebook homepage in your browser. After opening Facebook, focus your eyes on the right side of the page, there is a sign up application form under Sign Up section.

Step 1: Fill in Application Form

Type in your first name, last name, email address, re-enter email address, password, sex and birthday. Then click on the green Sign Up button. You must use your REAL name to sign up for Facebook. If you use a false name in your Facebook profile, your account will be terminated without notice because of violating Facebook's terms and conditions.

Step 2: Complete a Security Check

Because of security measures, Facebook is running a security check to make sure that you are a human, so, it is required to type in CAPTCHA details. After entering both words, click on the green Sign Up button to continue.

Step 3: Search Friends Through Email Contacts

You can skip this step to continue, unless you want to check how many friends of yours are already on Facebook. I highly suggest to skip this step at this time.

Step 4: Fill out Your Profile Info

This step is not important, you can fill in those fields (high school, college, and company) after finishing the sign-up process. Skip this step to continue.

Step 5: Set Your Profile Picture

You can either upload a photo from your computer or snap a photo with your webcam in this step, details below:

1. Click "Upload a Photo" then click on "Browse" button and select a picture that you want to use.
2. Click "Take a Photo" then Facebook will detect if any available cameras on your system.

Whatever you choose, click "Save" to continue. If you don't want to set your Facebook profile picture at this time, you may skip this step. It's important to set your picture, your friends who have not met each other for a long time may recognize you through your picture even though he/she has forgotten your name.

You now have registered a new account on Facebook successfully, but notice that there is a yellow bar on top of the page, because your email address has not been verified by Facebook side.

The last step to complete Facebook sign up process.

To verify the email address, you need to login your email and view the confirmation email sent from Facebook which contains a link that you must click on. If you can't find any confirmation email sent from Facebook in INBOX folder, check SPAM folder again.
